Emergency Foster Care Program

ACN Kitties
Anna and Harmony
Animal Compassion Network has space for twenty cats and twenty dogs in our Emergency Foster Program. ACN pulls the majority of the animals for this program from local shelters, but they also come to us from other dire of circumstances, including the loss of their person to a nursing facility or death or from cruelty cases. Periodically, ACN is asked to assist with a national disaster, like Hurricane Katrina, or a local emergency, such as the recent shutdown of a Hendersonville facility. In those instances, ACN expands the Emergency Foster Program to include all of the animals from the relief effort.

Emergency Foster homes are ACN volunteers who open their homes and hearts to animals in need. It is only through their compassion that we are able to help as many as we do. For each Emergency Foster cat or dog, ACN pays for the spay/neuter surgery, testing, vaccinating, parasite treatment (including deworming and heartworm and flea prevention), microchipping and all food, litter and necessary supplies (crates, litter pans, leashes, etc). In addition, ACN pays for 100% of all medical bills, referrals, training and behavior evaluations, as needed.

Sweet Dogs
Sweet and Adoptable Dogs

There are so many good cats and dogs who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Their people die, move away, lose a job, develop allergies or just grow tired of caring for them. Many of them are well behaved, healthy and highly adoptable. They just need a temporary safe haven until ACN finds them a responsible, loving forever home.

Please consider becoming an Emergency Foster home today. ACN works hard to match the foster dog or cat to the needs of the foster home, so even if you can only help an animal with a specific gender, age, breed or size, we still need you. We do ask that your animals are up to date on their vaccines and altered (unless arrangements have been made with the Foster Home Coordinator for an intact animal exception.) Emergency Foster homes are encouraged to be as involved as they’d like to be with the selection of an adoptive home for their foster pet.
